In 2010 a nonprofit a initiative was developed for marginalized women who are survivors of the Rwandan genocide. Programming for the students included education and provision for their holistic needs, as well as vocational training that provides students with a skillset to become self sustaining and empower opportunity. Almost a decade later, the project is endeavouring to build a facility within the suburbs of the capital city of Kigali to further expand the work and continue to recast a vision for a people not forgotten.
This shawl scarf is inspired by the colours of the Rwandan flag featuring traditional patterns of cloth embedded into the foreground, featuring a sewing machine key border design to represent the vocational training of the program.
100% of proceeds go to the building initiative. For more information about the project and its work please visit www.hopethiopia-rwanda.com
